The Undergraduate Research Symposium and ASURE (Associated Students for Undergraduate Research and Engagement) provide a full range of support and resources for prospective and accepted undergraduate presenters, including abstract writing, poster and slideshow design, oral and poster presentation, and public speaking.
The Undergraduate Research Symposium website offers a wide range of resources to assist undergraduate researchers and prospective presenters in all these areas, including written guidelines, FAQs, sample abstracts, photos, video interviews with symposium presenters, video recordings of full oral presentation panels, past symposium programs, and an archive of posters and slideshow presentations from past presenters.
ASURE leads peer-facilitated preparatory workshops on abstract writing. These workshops are held throughout Winter term on campus. Details about upcoming abstract workshops can be found below and also on the ASURE website.
ASURE's Winter abstract workshops:
- Thursday February 8, 2-3pm in Chapman 101
- Monday March 12, 4-5pm in the EMU Metolius Room
ASURE will lead peer-facilitated preparatory workshops on poster and slideshow design, as well as oral and poster presentations rehearsals.
Undergraduate Symposium faculty and librarian organizers will also offer tutorial appointments for these areas.
We encourage you to engage these resources and reach out to ASURE (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the symposium organizers early and often throughout your preparations for the Undergraduate Research Symposium.
